MORAL AUTHORITY

How does one lead without moral authority?

This is the question which ran through my mind as I watched the news on the ministers' pay hike.

And as simple as the question itself is, the answer is just as simple:One, pretend that you still have the moral authority.
Two, make disguised threats to back up that fake moral authority.
Both happened the past few days. But first, lets ask ourselves: Does a prime minister who now earns about $8,600 a day has any moral authority over Singaporeans, hundreds of thousands of whom earn $1,500 and below a month?
Do we respect a prime minister who gratifies himself with $8, 600 a day while at the same time dictates that our elderly on public assistance should get only about $9.50 per day?
How is it that, being the "top talents" with exceptional "EQs",
these people in government cannot see the hypocrisy, the immorality and the lack of ethics in their greed?
Yes, lets call a spade a spade - it is Greed, with a capital "G".

Pure and simple.

Greed sugarcoated with rhetorics and euphemisms, buried in tales of dire consequences and impending doom.
Greed - wearing the mask of service."The cure for all this talk is a good dose of incompetent government."
Threats coated with arrogance of the highest order.
An arrogance borne out of deep-seated hubris, self-importance and self-grandeur.
Yet, these are the very kinds of leaders we are paying money for.
These kinds of leaders who will in turn seek out more of the same kinds to join their ranks.
Witness the 82 in parliament yesterday.
Sheep silenced by Greed.
Sheep silenced by the arrogance of their master.
Not a word was spoken.
All was quiet.
Their mouths moved but said nothing.
Their faces contorted to reflect fake empathy with the common folks.
Thunder and lightning - conjured and false - signifying nothing.
For all supported the Greed.
Their vote of support give the lie to their empathy.
Moral authority has a price tag now - backed by the threats of arrogance and the dismantling of fair competition during elections.

Singapore , oh Singapore.

How you have fallen! You have built your towers towards the sky - just as in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah .

You have lost sight of what is true, what is genuine.Your towers of gleaming light and spires hide not your emptiness of spirit.
How you have fallen.
Even as you deceive and delude yourselves into thinking that you are reaching the heavens!
To my prime minister,I have no respect for you.None at all.None.Where then is your moral authority?
